Jeep has officially revealed another special version of the Wrangler for the 2026 model year. This time, the brand is celebrating a major milestone with the 2026 Jeep Wrangler 85th Anniversary Edition, created to honor 85 years of Jeep’s military roots and the legendary CJ models that helped make the brand famous.

This new anniversary model is based on the Wrangler Sport S trim and costs $710 more than a similarly equipped standard Wrangler. While the price bump is modest, the special edition brings unique styling details inside and out that help it stand apart from the regular lineup.

Sport S Foundation With Added Comfort

The 85th Anniversary Edition builds on the Sport S trim and includes the Convenience Group and Alpine premium audio system as standard. These upgrades add several comfort and tech features that many buyers want, such as:

Orders for the 2026 Jeep Wrangler 85th Anniversary Edition are now open. Pricing starts at $46,300, not including the $1,995 destination charge.

Jeep has also confirmed an 85th Anniversary Edition of the Gladiator pickup truck. That version costs $1,005 more than a comparable Gladiator Sport S and starts at $46,825 before destination fees and taxes.

Big Changes for Jeep’s Hybrid Plans

Alongside the anniversary announcement, Jeep also confirmed major changes to its electrification strategy. The company has canceled the planned 2026 Wrangler 4xe update, which was expected to bring a more powerful electric drive system.

Even more significantly, Jeep has discontinued both the Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe in North America. The decision reportedly comes after engine, battery, and software issues, along with reliability concerns and shifting customer demand. Powertrain Choices for 2026 Wrangler

With the 4xe gone, buyers of the 2026 Wrangler will have three traditional engine options:

• 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder
• 3.6-liter naturally aspirated V6
• 6.4-liter naturally aspirated V8
  

The six-speed manual transmission is only available with the 3.6-liter V6. The turbo four-cylinder and V8 models come exclusively with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The manual gearbox is supplied by Aisin, while the standard automatic is a ZF-based 850RE. The most robust transmission, the ZF 8HP75, is reserved for the V8-powered Moab 392, making it the toughest setup in the 2026 Wrangler lineup.
